Understanding Natural Teeth Remedies

The teeth are an important part of the human body as they play the role of starting the digestive process; chewing. They help in pronunciation and articulation and most importantly give us a pleasant appearance by keeping our facial profile. To function well, teeth should be healthy. However, there are many dental issues that people face such as cavities, tartar, plaque, gum problem, stains and sensitivity. Most people would run to a dentist at the first sign of dental trouble. Such is a wise move but it should be understood that there are other remedies for teeth problems other than visiting dentist. Some of these include;

1. Observe oral hygiene

If taken well care of, teeth can stay healthy. For good oral hygiene which automatically translates to healthy teeth, one should;

• Brush at least twice a day especially after meal and ensure the brushing is thoroughly done.

• Use fluoridated toothpaste which will help harden your tooth enamel thus reducing risk of tooth decay.

• Limit acidic drinks like cordials, soft drinks and fruit juices whose acids soften tooth material and dissolve the minerals in the tooth enamel causing cavities or caries.

• Avoid using your teeth for anything else other than their intended purpose which is chewing food.

One who observes oral hygiene does not have to worry about dental issues.

2. Watch your diet

For a person already suffering from cavities, they can reverse the extent of cavities and heal tooth decay. One just has to eat a grain free diet with nutrient rich foods like vegetables, meat, fruits, milk and vitamin D. According to research done, there are four main things that contribute to food decay; lack of minerals in the diet (calcium, magnesium and phosphorous), lack of fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K), too much consumption of phytic acid-rich foods, and overconsumption of processed sugar. For this reason, one can avoid and even reverse the effects of cavities by:

• Reducing the intake of phytic acids because it tends to impair the absorption of calcium, zinc, iron which may result to mineral deficiencies. This acid is found in grains and nuts, such as soya beans and peanuts.

• Consuming raw dairy and nutrient rich foods at least weekly; this is because raw dairy contains the necessary minerals and vitamins essential for promoting dental health.

• Avoid sugar especially artificial sweeteners. Raw honey is the best substitute to sugar.

After the oil is spat, one should rinse their mouth with warm salty water for added antimicrobial properties, after which one can brush normally. It has been known to cure a lot of things including gingivitis, headaches and even systemic diseases such as diabetes. The recommended oil to use is coconut oil.

4. Baking Soda and Lemon

The two ingredients work exceptionally well together. Brush with the solution only once a week since it can wear out the tooth enamel if used too frequently.
