Types of Acne and the Best Ingredient That is Suited for Your Skin

Many people don’t realize there are many different types of acne. And when a breakout happens, they immediately rush to their pharmacy to purchase a medicated product to combat the pimples. Though these products help, there are numerous natural products out there that can help rid the skin of acne, without the harsh side effects.

Types of Acne

Blackheads

When the pores are open, but the natural oils are too thick to pass through them, they can create a blockage that can result in a blackhead, so known because of the darker color of the clog.

Whiteheads

These blemishes occur when excess oil and dirt becomes trapped beneath the skin, forming a pustule or a bump.

Cystic

These are a more severe type of whitehead that occurs when there is an infection from the bacteria that is clogging the pores. They are painful, and form deep beneath the skin. They can also lead to scarring.

Nodules

This type also forms deep beneath the skin, but are large, hard and inflamed.

Hormonal

These breakouts happen around the jaw, mouth, and chin area, and usually flare up about a week before a girl’s period.

Acne Treatment Ingredients List

The following remedies are safe to use, and should be included on the acne treatment ingredients list that anyone suffering from acne should keep on-hand to help combat their breakouts.

Aloe Vera Gel

This plant is full of antibacterial properties that can both reduce inflammation and help treat acne. It also helps prevent bacteria from causing an infection in acne wounds and speeds up healing. Fresh aloe vera gel can be used daily with no side effects.

Jojoba Oil

This oil comes from the seeds of the jojoba tree, and is similar to the sebum that is naturally produced by the skin, but unlike sebum, it will not clog pores or create any excess oil. Dabbing 5 to 6 drops of this oil on a cotton pad over acne can help to clear the skin of imperfections.

Sea Salt

Lotions or creams containing sea salt, but with less than 1% sodium chloride, are quite helpful for those suffering from mild to moderate acne. It can be used up to 6 times a day if needed, and left on for 5 minutes each time, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Juniper Oil

As a natural antiseptic astringent, juniper oil can be used as a facial cleanser and a toner to help unclog pores and treat acne. A couple of drops on a cotton ball can be used on a clean, washed face to combat acne. Be sure not to overuse juniper oil, because too much of it can irritate the skin.

Salicylic Acid

This product is a great treatment for acne because it is multifunctional in the way it works. As a by-product of aspirin, it is an anti-inflammatory. It is also an effective keratolytic, which is a peeler. It can reduce the swelling and redness that causes acne, prevents scarring, and helps the skin to recover. The best thing about Salicylic acid is that it reduces the possibility of future outbreaks.
