Homemade Mosquito Trap- Catch 100’s of Mosquitoes Every Night

We all love summers with its good weather and great sun light. As the days get warmer and longer, the bugs come out more. Mosquitoes can infect millions of people every year. Though mosquitoes are really small insects, but they are really harmful to humans. Bites of these serious bugs can result in many grave diseases.

You can easily reduce the number of mosquitoes on your property with a plastic bottle trap that will attract and kill the mosquitoes. The liquid in each trap will last about two weeks, and then, it can be easily replaced. For increased effectiveness, place multiple traps around your house or property.

Traditional mosquito coils that can be burnt also pollute your air with a smoky odour. All natural mosquito repellent are dependable as long as they are free from any chemical ingredient. One such way is by using general household tools and ingredients.

DIY Mosquito Trap that WORKS

Items needed:

-1 cup of water
-1/4 cup of brown sugar
-1 gram of yeast
-1 2-liter bottle

How to do this?

1. Cut the plastic bottle in half.
2. Mix brown sugar with hot water. Let cool. When cold, pour in the bottom half of the bottle.
3. Add the yeast. No need to mix. It creates carbon dioxide, which attracts mosquitoes.
4. Place the funnel part, upside down, into the other half of the bottle, taping them together if desired.
5. Wrap the bottle with something black, leaving the top uncovered, and place it outside in an area away from your normal gathering area.

*Change the solution every 2 weeks for continuous control.

How This Homemade Trap Works?

Mosquitoes increase in number if they are provided with suitable conditions for breeding such as stagnant water bodies, large, uncut bushes etc. It is also true that only the female mosquito bites humans. Female mosquitoes require blood to initiate their egg laying process and hence, they are instinctively driven to inhibit a chuck off your body.

Mosquitos are highly attracted to carbon dioxide (CO2). Mosquitoes follow vapor trails of CO2, knowing that a fresh meal of warm blood is at the other end. The key to this method is the mixture of the sugar, water, and yeast. When you mix these three ingredients together, CO2 is created. As a dense volume of CO2 is created within the 2-liter bottle, this attracts the mosquitoes. Once inside the trap and unable to find a tasty meal, the mosquitoes look for the exit and fly up along the insides of the bottle. With their escape route blocked, the bugs eventually tire out and fall to the bottom of the trap to die. Another thing that attracts the mosquitoes is the color black.
