7 Signs That Your Detox Plan is Actually Working

There are so many detox diets out there. But most of them don’t work.  So how will you know if the detox plan you’re using works? Well, there are physiological changes that happen to your body when you flush toxins.

Here are some of the things that may happen to your body when you detox.

1. Cold symptoms

You may experience sore throat, running nose, mucous, fatigue and body aches when you detox. This is a result of the immune system responding to the detox.

But don’t let this bother you. Drink herbal teas and soups to alleviate these symptoms.

2. Strong body odor

Sweating is one of the ways to rid the body of toxins (xenobiotics). When detoxing you may emit an odor similar to that of those who eat lots of garlic or drink a lot of alcohol.

Make sure you drink a lot of water and eat veggies. This will help you reduce the odor because you’ll sweat and urinate frequently.

3. Diarrhea and/ or constipation

Most detox diets involve high-fiber intake, drinking a lot of water, and use of therapeutic herbs. These foods alter digestion and cause issues like diarrhea and constipation. Don’t freak out or quit your detox when this happens. Regular poops will actually prevent bowel buildup in the colon.

4. Fatigue

There are many diet factors that cause fatigue. It can be triggered by removal of wastes, low calorie intake, high metabolic demand and so on. You may experience fatigue the first few days of cleansing. But after 5 day you will become more energetic.

You may want to go easy on your workouts when detoxing. And eat more nutrient dense foods.

5. Swollen lymph nodes

Folks with high toxin buildup or yeast may experience swollen lymph nodes. This means that the immune system is working hard to remove toxins and fight infections. Getting massage can help eliminate this symptom.

6. Moodiness

You may be irritable the first few days of cleansing. This can be caused by metabolic changes, cravings, circadian rhythm changes.

7. Bloating and gas

As I mentioned above, detox causes digestive problems. But realize that these symptoms will disappear after a while and you’ll better than ever.
